San Lorenzo has an interesting history.  Originally called San Lorenzo Village, it was built in 1944 to serve the housing needs of those workers active the World War II military production industries in the area.  It was designed as a planned community with certain portions set aside for housing, schools, churches and retail centers. Many of these classic ranch style homes are still there, offering 2-3 bedroom homes, spacious front and back yards, 5000 sf lots, and quiet streets.  Over the years, many have been upgraded dramatically, and offer new kitchens, and fresh amenities.

Nearby pluses are the many and varied choices of shops, stores, restaurants and movie theaters at the Bayfair Mall in San Leandro, or the Southland Shopping Center in Hayward. Recreations sites include the San Leandro Marina and Hayward Regional Shoreline for biking, walking, jogging or the Tony Lema Golf Course for those with an interest in golf.
