Both the Oakland Zoo and The Dunsmuir Hellman Historic Estate have scheduled special events for Dad this weekend.  The Oakland Zoo has set aside the day to encourage family fun by declaring this Sunday,"Father's Day at the Zoo".  Dad will be allowed a free train ride through the zoo, and together the family can move through the site that houses more than 660 native and exotic animals, a wildlife theater, an African Savannah and Tropical Rain Forrest area, food, rides, and of course, the popular Children's Zoo, which is a favorite for everyone.  Make plans to attend this Sunday, June 15th, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.. The zoo is located off Highway 580 at 9777 Golf Links Road.  Here is a map of the zoo to help you plan your many activities for the day: OAKLAND ZOO MAP.

Not far away is the Dunsmuir Hellman Historic Estate.  This beautiful property and grounds house a wonderfully restored Victorian home, Carriage House and gardens for visitors.  This Sunday they will feature a "Dad And Jazz" event, and encourage dads, granddads, and their families to enjoy jazz music featuring many local musicians, and featuring Ric Alexander and the 2wo 4our 1ne Band.  Ric 's appearances have been an outstanding draw at Yoshi's. Also featured is award winning Leah Tysee. So if music, fun, drinks, play, and a tour of the historic Dunsmuir Mansion are in your plans this weekend, consider this event in your day.  The location is 2960 Peralta Oaks Court off of Highway 580 in Oakland.  The hours for the event are 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m..
