Blackhawk CA is an upscale community of roughly 10,000 and 9.3 square miles, located in Contra Costa County along Highway 680. It is bordered by Danville to the west, and Diablo to the north, Livermore to the east and San Ramon to the south. Blackhawk is built around the Blackhawk Country Club, which is a world class facility with a clubhouse and two golf courses. Other amenities on site include the Blackhawk Tennis Club, and the Blackhawk Swim Club, which features an Olympic sized pool.
The community is probably best known for its architecturally stunning homes, many of which are well over 5000 sq.ft., and feature a wide variety of modern homes in styles reminiscent of Italianate, Mediterranean, Tudor, and Spanish Empire. Most feature large gardens, open and sweeping views, and spacious patios and kitchens for entertaining. In addition to these larger homes, there are also condominiums, townhouses and smaller tennis villas available for sale.
Six gated communities make up the area of Blackhawk CA. Hidden Oaks, the first community to be completed in 1978. Saddleback was the second completed community with some of the largest Blackhawk homes. Additionally, there are Oakridge and Silver maple, as well as the upscale Blackhawk condos in Silveroak. Blackhawk Country Club is the largest of the 6 communities.
The nearby Blackhawk Shopping Plaza offer shopping at charming stores, popular restaurants, plus handsome office buildings, and a movie theater complex. A long standing, and very popular attraction there has been the collection of collector and antique cars located in the Blackhawk Automotive Museum.
