The Castro Valley Real Estate Market
Castro Valley is pleasant town located in the hills just above the junction of Highways 580 and 238, west of San Leandro. It is ideally located for its residents who can conveniently choose to visit Hayward to the south, San Leandro and Oakland to the north, and all of Contra Costa County just over the Dublin grade to the east. For those who must commute to any of these locations, this central location, plus the local BART station makes shopping, working or recreational opportunities easier to get to.
It has a busy downtown area, and a very popular Castro Valley Community Center, which features a very spacious park, with plenty of green space for the many events scheduled there. Year round plays are offered by the local Chanticleers Theater group, and the Center schedules events and activities during the year. Residents can enjoy the play spaces, picnic and barbecues areas, plus tennis, basketball and horseshoe courts. A softball field is also found there, along with a snack bar.
Up in the hills above the city is the very popular Lake Chabot which is visited by joggers, hikers, fishermen and boaters. To enhance the experience for visitors, there is a boat area where visitors can rent canoes and rowboats by the hour, and a popular fishing derby is scheduled each spring. Swimming and picnics are encouraged. The other major attraction for those who enjoy spending their time outdoors is Lake Chabot Golf Course. It is a flat 18 holes which runs through beautiful land and pleasant home sites, and features a restaurant and snack bar for post game refreshment.
