The San Leandro Real Estate Market

San Leandro is a pleasant town in the East Bay of 76,000 residents that is tucked in between Oakland on the north, and Castro Valley and Hayward on the south.  As with many of its neighboring cities, it experienced much of its major growth and development in the 1920s and 1930's, and then again went through another major growth in the 1940s and 1950s.  As a result, it's a city of tree lined streets, large front and back lawns with patios, trees, and plants.  For a city its size, it has a total of 21 city parks to serve its residents.

Home styles include Art Deco, Ranch, Bungalow, Craftsman, Mediterranean, and Spanish stucco influences.  New neighborhoods offer scenic SF Bay and hillside views along with mid-century modern, Italianate and ranch designs.

Things to Do in San Leandro

There is a strong emphasis on the outdoor activities in San Leandro.  There are miles of walking and hiking paths, especially near the San Leandro Marina.  Adjacent to the marina is the popular Monarch Bay Golf Club which offers complete facilities and both a 9 and 18 hole course.  The newly renovated Family Aquatic Center offers what it calls "state of the art" facilities to visitors. Just a bit north, sports fans will find the Oakland Coliseum complex with it's many baseball, football, basketball activities that offer year round entertainment.

Even though it is south of Oakland and San Francisco, those who want to commute to either have a choice of two BART stations, plus both Highway 24 and 880 are just moments away to speed them on their way.  The Oakland International Airport is just adjacent to the city for those who want to vacation or use it for business connections.
