This coming Sunday, September 28th, is the time to bring your family and friends to the annual Harvest Festival.  Held at the Piedmont Community Center, 711 Highland Avenue, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., it promises to offer fun, food, and fall scarecrows and pumpkins, with the goal of generating  funds in imaginative ways for Piedmont's three elementary schools.

To help get you into the holiday mood, there will be a celebration of jazz music, starting at 11:30 a.m., featuring the Piedmont High School Jazz Band.  After that, on the hour, throught the rest of the event, there will be a selection of various area jazz groups providing background music as you enjoy the day.

In the heart of the  Community Center grounds will be a carnival designed to appeal to just about everyone, no matter what their age.  Booths include those offering Tricycle Races, Lollipop Drops, Guess The Pumpkin Weight Booth, Pumpkin Decorating, Face Painting, and Splash Zone, to list but a few.  Additionally, on the grounds you will find decorated holiday wreaths for sale, a Farmer's Market, and lots of food booths.

One of the highlights each year is the Scarecrow Walk.  Here you will find amazingly created scarecrows, made of every imaginative material, with creative themes, lots of color and design, just waiting for you to bid on them, and take them home for your front yard.

Other creative things offered by community individuals and groups are on display at the Edibles Contest.  Here local residents and groups can show off their best grown edibles.  They can be shown individually, in the form of a cooked delight.  Local artsist have been invited to present their art in the annual Art Show, held in the Tea House.

One of the major fund raiser will be the Annual Auction.  Here, local groups, businesses, or individuals, offer items for auction that will appeal to a wide variety of attendees.  Included are gift baskets of every kind, some with local produce, some from local stores.  Gift certificates from restaurants and upcoming local events are available, and the list will grow as the days progress.

So put the day on your calendar.  Want more information?  Here is their website:  PIEDMONT HARVEST FESTIVAL
