Where Is Oakland?

Oakland is centrally located within the greater San Francisco Bay Area, with easy access to the popular surrounding cities that make up the metropolitan area. It is directly across the Bay from San Francisco and is immediately south of both Berkeley and Emeryville.

Oakland shares a western border with Alameda along the scenic Oakland estuary.  Along its northern and eastern border, Highways 24 and 13 provide direct access to the amazing resources available just over the Oakland hills in Contra Costa County, which features the pleasant communities of Orinda, Lafayette, and Walnut Creek.

As with any large city, Oakland has an outstanding commute system in place, should you want to travel to any of the adjacent cities. Besides a busy bus system and the efficient freeway system, one of the most popular forms of transportation is the Bay Area Rapid Transit System (BART) with multiple stations throughout Oakland and the neighboring cities. The central Amtrak station at Jack London Square is the site for many commuters north to Sacramento or south to Silicone Valley.

Oakland Airport is user-friendly, and the second largest airport in the Bay area.  11 million passengers use the flight services of 14 different airlines, to fly all over the world.
