Union City Real Estate
Union City has come a long way since its original inception in 1850. The city is a combination of three earlier communities-Alvarado, New Haven and Decoto. It has the claim of being the first county seat in Alameda county, and was the site of the first courthouse in the county, as well.

It is centrally located, and an ideal place to live for those who work in Silicon Valley, San Jose, or north in Hayward and Oakland. Split by Highway 880, and north of Fremont and Newark, it proves to be the ideal bedroom community for the immediate area, and the Dumbarton Bridge allows direct access to the many offices and industries of San Mateo and the SF Peninsula.
Many of the homes in the area developed during a post-WW II growth spurt that was typical of the entire southern Alameda county. As such, most of the homes are reflective of the ranch and mid-century modern designs, which were developed still further towards the end of the 20th century. As a result, buyers can expect spacious front and back yards, patios, and family rooms from the earlier homes, and more a dramatic flair with the later, and newer homes. The latter will include more variety of exterior home designs, large open floor plans, efficient kitchens with tile, marble and a variety of appliances, and more square footage than the original housing.
Nearby recreational areas are plentiful. For boating and water activities, residents can visit Quarry Lakes Regional Recreation Area, and for hiking, biking and other outdoor activities, Coyote Hills is an appealing draw. Popular Ardenwood Historic Park provides year round activities to demonstrate what life was like on a farm in the 1900's.
