Lofts and Condos in Oakland's Prescott Neighborhood

Oakland's Prescott Neighborhood is located at the western end of Oakland where it touches the waters of San Francisco Bay, the foot of the Bay Bridge, and the Port of Oakland's historic Maritime complex. Because of its proximity to San Francisco commerce, it has ultimately become one of the oldest residential and commercial neighborhoods in Oakland.  Developing between 1860 to 1900, it is the site of one of the best collection of Victorian style homes in the area.  Whether you are interested in Queen Anne, Stick, Brown Shingle, or Italianate styles, there is one to be found there.

But things are changing and staying the same right now in the area.  Many new residents are arriving with the intention of keeping the classic Victorian look on the exterior of the homes there, but are now updating them inside with modern amenities and conveniences to suit their present day needs.  Both musicians and artists are finding this area a logical extension of the artist studios and shops in the nearby Uptown and Jack London neighborhoods.  It is also the site of the famous Crucible's industrial and fine arts schools.  More changes are on the way in 2014 with the a large collection of modern live/work lofts being developed within a large brick warehouse in the area.  The immediate area, thanks to the West Oakland district revitalization plan has developed Raimondi Park to the point where it now offers beautifully maintained playgrounds, plus soccer, football, and baseball fields designed to serve all ages in the community.

Other outdoor and communtity centered locations include the recently renovated Mandela Parkway's bicycle friendly paths, and the amazing views that can be found at the totally updated Middle Harbor Shoreline Park. Communting is a breeze in this neighborhood. Oakland Downtown is just blocks away, as is the SF Bay Bridge, Highways 80, 880 and 24.  West Oakland BART is nearby, and can take you all over the Bay area.  So be sure to consider Oakland's Prescott Neighborhood. It has had a great past, and promise to have an even better future.
