When you are selling your Oakland or Piedmont home, you can increase its appeal dramatically by the effective use of curb appeal. Â Just as many sellers stage the interior of their home, they need to consider the effect that a handsome exterior will have on potential buyers. Â The good news is that many of the ideas below can be done without a large financial investment.
Your first step is to look at your home the way others may see it. Â How will drive by buyers see it? Â What impression are you giving about the home in general? Â Here are some top tips:
1. The yard must look clean and neat. Â Remove all debris from the front yard, and be sure to include the sidewalks, garden beds, gutters and porches in your cleanup. Â Weed and remove all dead plants, and overgrown shrubs that hide your home.
2. Make the approach to your home attractive and safe. Â Check all walkways to make sure that the paving stones are level and safe, and not cracked. Â Perhaps include bright seasonal plants and flowers along the main walkway, and see that they attractively placed in the front yard.Â
3. Update your fixtures. Â Put up fresh new lighting at the door to enhance nighttime appeal. Â Additionally, replace your house numbers with a new fresh design, and consider the same for your mailbox. Â
4. Consider painting and brightening up the trim on your home, front door and window sills. Â Use colors that highlight these spots and compliment the current home's color. Â
Obviously, your nearest home improvement center will be a wonderful resource for you. Â In addition to keeping costs down by shopping sales, you can get a wealth of information from the experts there to help you. Â
So, make a plan, and give yourself time to implement it. Â I will be glad to help with ideas and suggestions. Â
