Oakland's Jack London Square has always been a delightful centerpiece for both local residents and visitors from all over the world. With its central location, and weekly events, it has been a captivating spot on Oakland's waterfront.
For the last few years, a stunning community has been developing nearby. Called Brooklyn Basin, it has been working towards the goal of providing an imaginatively designed residential and commercial anchor for the city along the busy Oakland Estuary.
It has multiple goals--all of which will make it a welcome and commanding addition to the city. Plans overall include a selection of imaginatively designed mid-rise and high-rise homes with panoramic views, townhomes, and live-work loft units.
The picture above (courtesy of Signature Development Group) reveals the projection of the completed project, and provides the view of the projected 200 boat slips, 30 acres of public parks, and what are promised to be delightful shops and restaurants .
Nearby attractions will include the Historic 9th Avenue Terminal Building, and the spacious Township Commons Park located at the edge of the estuary that will house public events and activities.
Since early last year, The Orion Project portion of the development has been leasing luxurious apartments that offer a rich selection of amenities for residents that include (in part) a fitness center, a community room and game room, a conference room and dramatic rooftop views of the Oakland waterfront and the San Francisco skyline. Currently, there are units still available.
