The U.S. News & World Reports recent rankings of America's best high schools names Piedmont High among the top in the nation for the third year in a row, winning gold medal status. After analyzing 21,000 public schools in collaboration with School Evaluation Services, Piedmont High was ranked among the top 100 in the U.S. at number 73. Honors given to other East Bay schools included Campolindo High in Moraga, Miramonte High in Orinda, and Lionel Wilson College Preparatory Academy in Oakland, to name a few. Nice to see some good news regarding schools and the quality of education here in the Bay Area!

When buying a home in the East Bay, buyers may need to consider what school district they are buying into. Even buyers with no children may benefit from future resale value in a desirable district such as Albany or Piedmont homes. Those who live in certain areas of Oakland, San Leandro, etc., public school is less than desirable while homes with great schools may command a premium price. Sometimes the dividing line for different schools is down the middle of a street. Homes on one side of the street maybe valued significantly higher than those on the other side, depending on which school district they are in.

In this day and age where private school is a staggering expense many decide instead to relocate/pay into a school district, where you maintain the value in your home, rather than toss it out the window every year. But, nevertheless, there are still some public schools that hold their own alongside the most prestigious private schools.
