Yes, it's just around the corner--Thanksgiving Day. Also just around the corner, on that very same day is the annual Piedmont Turkey Trot. This is a family oriented 3 mile run/walk that starts in downtown Piedmont, and moves throughout the beautiful tree lined streets of the city, providing beautiful fall views and safe, comfortable, running conditions.Â
Early registration provides you with a bit of a discount. If you register by November 26th, the fees are $25 for ages 13 years and older, and $15 for 12 years and younger. (After November 26th, it becomes $40/$30). Also early registration provides you with an opportunity to receive a commemorative long-sleeved shirt if you are among the first 1800 signed up. If you are not sure of your schedule, last minute signups are available on Wednesday 11/27 from @2:00-5:00 p.m., and on race morning up to 8:00 a.m. Piedmont High is located at 800 Magnolia Street, Piedmont.
Plan on making this a family event to get you in the mood for a yummy Thanksgiving dinner later in the day. The baby can join in by stroller. Bring your dog, if you want, since dogs are welcomed. There will be ribbons and prizes for the top 3 race finishers in various age groups.Â
If you have not got the inclination to run, volunteers are needed to help set up the tables, course barricades and help sign up or welcome registrants, pass out materials, work with refreshments, be a course monitor, or whatever else is needed to make this a smooth, enjoyable day for all.
