Tomorrow, September 29th, is a big day for Piedmont families and their friends.  It is the date of the annual Harvest Festival, and is held right in the center of town, and an easy walk or bike ride for most of those attending. It is packed with events from morning to afternoon designed to appeal to all ages and interests.

Starting bright and early are the growing and cooking contests, where residents are encouraged to compete by entering items that were home grown within the boundaries of Piedmont, and another contest to present recipes based around foods that can be grown, or were grown, within Piedmont. For those who are interested in these wonderful foods, there will also be a Farmers Market with all kinds of choices starting at 10:30 a.m..

If food is not your specialty, and you have an artistic bent, there is a Scarecrow Contest.  This is truly a delightful activity, and contestants are encouraged to be especially creative in building a scarecrow that can actually be used by gardeners.  Suggestions by the committee judging these entries are to use as many recycled components as you can, and use your most imaginative skills.  All these creations will be placed in an area around the Community Center, and will be auctioned off as a fund raiser.  An additional fund raiser will be the Raffle.  These funds go to benefit the three Piedmont elementary schools.  The raffle offers prizes that range from certificates to a summer camp, tickets to upcoming festivals and events, through local harvest baskets, seasonal wreaths, and much more as the morning arrives.

For little ones, there are carnival rides and games and booths, plus pumpkin decorating and face painting.  The festival hours are 11:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m..

This festival is one that draws Piedmont homeowners and nearby visitors into a warm and friendly combination of fun and friendship, and is truly a popular annual event.
