Â
It is just a few days away-the annual Independence Day Parade in downtown Piedmont. Make plans to bring comfortable seating, family and friends, and watch the passing parade. The parade will start at 11:00 a.m. at the corner of Highland Avenue and Park Way. One of the major appeals about the parade is that city neighborhoods and various community organizations are invited to enter to participate at no fee. As a result, lots of Piedmont neighbors and imaginative floats will be passing by.Â
Favorite and returning entries will include The Piedmont Community Band, the Balloon Platoon, The Barrelhouse Jazz Band, The Pinto Rangers, Critters By The Bay, The Zenith New Orleans Parade Band, and the Raiderettes. But that's not all. As is expected every year, several bagpipe bands will appear, as will an always colorful collection of antique and classic cars.Â
The traditional concept continues as families and friends are invited to a festive community picnic in Main Park after the parade. Enjoy these festivities, and the music which will be provided by big band on the main stage.Â
